What changed for home EV chargers on 1 October 2026?
Energex and Ergon Energy Network announced that from 1 October 2026 a single-phase home charger can be installed at 32 amps (about 7.4 kW) without a network control device. Your charger still has to fit within your home's supply limit. See our EV charger guide.
Single-phase or three-phase: which do I need?
Most homes are single-phase, and a single-phase charger suits most daily driving. We check your supply, switchboard and cable run, then recommend the charger size that fits.
Will my switchboard need an upgrade?
Sometimes. Older boards or boards with no spare room may need work before a charger goes in. We check when we quote.
How much does EV charger installation cost?
It depends on the charger, the distance from the switchboard to where you park, and whether the switchboard needs work. We quote it after a site check.
Is the work guaranteed?
Yes. We are licensed and insured (Queensland Electrical Contractor Licence 91200, $20 million public liability insurance), all work is done to Australian Standards (AS/NZS 3000), and our workmanship is backed by our satisfaction guarantee. We confirm the terms in your quote, and your rights under Australian Consumer Law always apply.
